These flags hung outside of a house on a road that meandered down a hill under the fragrant redwood canopy.  For six years, we lived a short walk away from there.  The neighborhood is at the northeastern border of the disastrous fire that burned in the Santa Cruz Mountains during August and September 2020.  I wonder if this home - and what was our home - survived it.  Nonetheless, this photo and its message will always have a permanent place somewhere on this site.
